PlayStation baas Jim Ryan zal na bijna 30 jaar voor Sony te werken, het bedrijf verlaten. Dat lieten zowel Sony als Ryan zelf eerder vannacht in een persbericht weten.
Sony Group Corporation president, COO, en CFO Hiroki Totoki zal op 1 april 2024 Ryan opvolgen als interim CEO van Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE). In tegenstelling tot vele CEO’s dat van de rol afstappen zal Ryan Sony volledig verlaten en dus geen adviserende rol op zich nemen.
Ryan begon in 1994 voor Sony te werken, waar hij meerdere topposities hield. Zo was hij eerder Head of Global Sales and Marketing en Deputy President of SIE. Sinds 2018 was hij CEO en SIE President. Hij geeft nu zelf aan dat het na 30 jaar genoeg is geweest. Hij vind dat het te moeilijk geworden is om zijn privé leven in Europa te combineren met het werken vanuit de Verenigde Staten. Wat zijn volgende project zal zijn is nog niet bekend.
